Films from 95 countries applied to Cinema Verite

Hundreds of films from 95 countries have applied to the 16th edition of the Cinema Verite, Iran's major documentary film festival.

The Iranian Youth Cinema Society reported that 1,348 documentaries from 95 countries applied to the international section of the Cinema Verite.

Among the submitted films, 893 works are categorized as short films, while 195 are semi-features and 260 are feature films.

The festival will announce the official selection for its 16th edition later.

Organized by the Documentary and Experimental Film Center, the first edition of the Cinema Verite was held in 2007.

Over the past decade, it has emerged as one of the important events on Iran's documentary calendar.

The 16th edition of the Cinema Verite, headed by Mohammad Hamidi-Moqaddam, will be held in December.
